- Giant Conifers – At up to 220 feet in height and 21 feet in circumference the evergreen Rocky Mountain Douglas Fir is one of the two most massive trees in the New Mexico forest. Not to be outdone, the Ponderosa Pine has been known to attain heights of 227 feet with a girth of 24 feet.
- Giant Cliffs – The Brazos Cliffs form the leading edge of New Mexico’s Brazos Massif, formed of 1.8 Billion year-old Precambrian Era Quartzite. With a peak of 11,200 feet above sea level, the sheer rock walls rise dramatically for over 2,000 feet from the base. The walls provide a serious challenge to technical rock climbing enthusiasts.
- Giant Trout – Enjoying warm summers and abundant forage, trout in this part of New Mexico grow to enormous stature. It is not unusual to hook a five pound brown or a 20 inch rainbow. The nearby Heron Lake holds lake trout that routinely top 20 pounds. The private waters of the Mundy Ranch hold trophy trout and the fishing can be yours to enjoy.
- Giant Elk and Deer– Hunting pros will tell you, the elk and mule deer of New Mexico’s Unit 4 are among the biggest in the land. These giants of the deer family are protected by sensible harvest limits and strict regulation. The Mundy Ranch is home to roaming herds of elk that can be seen and enjoyed year-round. Hunting is forbidden in the residential areas of the ranch, but hunters can make arrangements to stalk their quarry in the remote 5,000 acre easement and adjoining lands with local outfitters.
- Georgia O’Keefe, Giant of the Art World – Minutes from the Mundy Ranch, you will find the Ghost Ranch, the former home of the legendary artist. O’Keefe found inspiration in the everyday matter of northern New Mexico, including raucous flowers, well-weathered bones and electrifying sunsets. Here, at the Mundy Ranch, every day with nature is like stepping into a O’Keefe creation.
- Cumbres & Toltec Railroad – It’s not just railway buffs that flock to this scenic railroad. As the highest, longest and most scenic steam train in America, this nation treasure attracts visitors from around the globe. It is, in fact, one of the top 3 tourists sites in New Mexico.
