The owners of Chama’s Mundy Ranch share a common love for the native fish and wildlife that abound in this Chama Valley development. With its many lakes and miles of freestone river frontage, Chama’s Mundy Ranch provides significant habitat for native trout and other fish. The lush green meadows and canopy of towering pines provide food and cover for vast herds of Elk and Mule Deer as well as many species of smaller mammals and birds.
The Mundys are committed to the conservation of this important habitat. They have set aside hundreds of acres in deeded conservation easements. Some of these conservation easements are administered by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. All of the conservation acreage is open to residents of each Mundy Ranch development for fishing, hiking and other outdoor activities. Fishing is mostly on a catch and release basis.
As you stroll through the hundreds of acres set aside for conservation you are likely to see herds of female Elk with newborn calves, scores of Mule Deer does with their dappled fawns and the occasional fox, ringtail or bobcat herding its new brood. Above you, hawks, eagles and other raptors make their nests high in the Pines of Chama’s Mundy Ranch. On summer afternoons, hummingbirds briefly leave their nests to visit your feeders to the delight of family and friends.
Because conservation of this land is paramount to the Mundys, they encourage green building techniques. Reasonable covenants at each development assure that your investment in Chama’s Mundy Ranch will be an investment in nature. And, you’ll sleep well at night knowing that the sounds you hear are the sounds of future generations of wildlife that you have helped to preserve through the conservation programs of Chama’s Mundy Ranch.
